![]() Real-world research informed not only the way the Grievers looked, but also how they moved. An image that struck a chord with us was one of crabs crawling over each other in the sea we kept this in mind for the finale when multiple Grievers attack the Gladers.” We used whatever grossed me out for the textures, like a slug’s skin with warts from a frog. We studied how ants move, and looked at slugs for the organic soft parts of the body. “We started developing it by looking at macro photos of bed bugs and fleas – I always find that whatever crazy creature you want to create, nature has already done it for you somewhere. “We had some very cool concept designs from Wes illustrating how the Griever should look,” said Rowe. ![]() One of the key challenges for Rowe and Brevig was bringing to life the Grievers: menacing, part-mechanical creatures that emerge at night to patrol the labyrinth. “With a kicking team like that,” said Rowe, “you know you have a great show on your hands!” Having been awarded the work, Rowe and Brevig grew the team by bringing in lead animator Eric de Boer – a Life of Pi veteran – and creature supervisor James Jacobs, formerly of Weta Digital. I’ve done a number of creature shows in the past, most notably The Golden Compass.” Eric has a wealth of knowledge on set, having supervised many shows and directed his own feature. “We have a great mutual respect and a shorthand that makes the split easy. “Eric and I have worked in a similar way in the past,” said Rowe. I thought, “If he can do that on our first meeting, then wow! Dailies are going to be fun!” Within minutes of our meeting him, he was describing the first scene from the movie – he was so full of energy, describing the elevator rising up, using sound effects and jumping around the room. “When we heard there was talk of a film, the Method Studios team hopped on a plane and met with Joe Conmy at Fox. “My daughter had read the book and loved it,” said Sue Rowe, recalling the early days of the project. Watch a montage of clips from The Maze Runner : Rowe led the studio team, visiting the set in Baton Rouge for crucial VFX sequence photography, while Brevig remained on set for the duration of the shoot. VFX supervisor duties were shared by Sue Rowe and Eric Brevig. Method Studios was the major visual effects vendor for The Maze Runner, delivering around 530 shots for the film. Thomas has no memory of how he got there, but by exploring the maze along with the other people trapped there, he gradually pieces together the puzzle of his past … and begins to believe in the possibility of escape. Now the latest fantasy adventure has hit the screens in the form of The Maze Runner.Īdapted from the best-selling novel by James Dashner and directed by Wes Ball, The Maze Runner begins when a boy called Thomas awakes mysteriously in a glade set at the heart of a giant labyrinth. First came Harry Potter, then Twilight and The Hunger Games. In recent years, filmmakers have found fertile ground – and enjoyed impressive box office returns – in adapting young adult novels. ![]() This is a really powerful tool, and it simplifies something I've long done using separate plugins (usually a multiband compressor set to band solo mode) during mixdown and mastering by soloing and comparing specific frequency pockets of your mix, it's often much easier to diagnose issues with frequency imbalance and distortion. One of the most brilliant features of Metric A/B is its built-in filtering option with the click of a button, you can isolate a specific frequency band of your mix (Sub, Bass, Low Mid, Mid, High). In particular, the Dynamics tool can be extremely revealing in showing how a properly mastered mix handles the dynamic changes between song sections (for example, the transition from a very loud 'drop' to a quiet breakdown section), enabling you to diagnose problem areas in your mix with ease. Dynamics mode will quickly reveal differences between a professionally mixed and mastered track versus a rough mix, and it can be an essential tool if you're trying to replicate the overall loudness contour and feel of a commercial track. Put simply, Dynamics mode allows you to compare the peak level and short-term dynamics of two tracks next to each other, which in my testing was extremely useful for zeroing in on differences between my mixes and my favorite reference tracks and tweaking master buss compression and limiting accordingly. Metric A/B's Dynamics mode was one of the pleasant surprises I found during testing, and it's a tool I haven't really seen duplicated in other monitoring plugins to date. This mode is particularly useful for ensuring your low-end content isn't panned to one side or another, and it can be extremely revealing to examine how some of your favorite reference mixes handle panning across the frequency spectrum. The Stereo Image mode offers a slightly different approach to evaluating the left and right content of your mix versus a reference track, with vertically-oriented displays showing the left-right gain of the entire frequency spectrum. While I'm placing less emphasis on Correlation meters than I used to, this view is nonetheless a really powerful tool for ensuring that there aren't areas of my mix that will disappear when the mix is collapsed to mono on certain playback systems. ![]() In dual mode, Correlation view offers a multiband look at both your DAW and reference track's stereo correlation across the entire frequency spectrum, allowing you to spot specific frequency ranges that may be out of phase. Metric A/B's Correlation mode offers one of the more advanced stereo correlation analysis tools I've found to date. Spectrum mode is particularly effective if you can track down stems for a reference mix you like, as it allows you to A/B the constituent elements of a track (say, your drum buss vs the reference mix drum buss) for more precise reverse engineering. While it seems counterintuitive to rely on a visual meter instead of your ears, always bear in mind that if your room isn't treated well or has odd dimensions, a visual meter is likely a more accurate way to dial in the right amount of low-end in your mix. For producers working in small or poorly treated rooms, this is particularly essential. In doing so, it's easy to figure out areas of the spectrum where your track either has too much or too little frequency content compared to your desired reference mix. In Spectrum mode, I found Layered to be by far the most useful: rather than trying to discern areas of frequency differences in Dual mode, which is fairly imprecise, Layered mode allows you to view the two tracks' frequency curves directly overlaid on one another. Cue mode can be useful if, for example, you want to A/B the first bar or two of your drop with a reference file in contrast to Latch mode, which will simply resume playback from wherever Metric A/B left off, Cue mode will always start playback from the same point, making it easy to compare how the first bar of a section is hitting compared to a reference. ![]() Cue mode is also quite handy: it operates similarly to Latch, with playback start and stop tied to your DAW, but it starts playback from one of four assignable cue points each time your playback engine is restarted. The default mode, Latch, was the one I most frequently turned to, as I find it to be the easiest to use in most situations: Latch simply ties the start and stop of the Metric A/B playback engine to the start/stop of your DAW. If you're used to Magic A/B, you'll feel most at home in the Playback tab, which offers similar but more robust controls that allow you to select which parts of your reference track you want to play back, and control how you wish to do so. ![]() If you have nice headphones the sound quality will also be better than the Via junk.G75VW AUDIO DRIVER (g75vw_audio_8619.zip) Or you can just get a USB sound card to avoid it entirely, the Soundblaster X-fi Go (35 bucks) or X-fi Surround 5.1 (60 bucks or 40 for refurbished) are decent options. These drivers seem to have improved the weird headphone/speaker switching glitches I had, but since they appear to be so different for so many people (a testament to crappy drivers) I can't guarantee it will help but it's worth a try. They are newer than anything Asus has on their site: Download VIA HD Audio Driver 10.5.08 Driver for Windows XP / Windows Vista / Windows XP X64 / Windows Vista64 / Windows 7 / Windows 7 圆4 / Windows 8 / Windows 8 圆4 - Softpedia Have you tried disabling the "2.1" setting in the audio control panel when using headphones?Īlso, you can see if these drivers help. Mediocre sound card with buggy drivers and crappy speakers. The audio system on the G75 is the worst aspect of the system. It's such a shame that they did use them now since they have better options as we speak (write).Īsus with G series could have been on top of the game. ![]() I wish Asus will stop using these speakers in the future. Dell Inspiron N7720 with Skullcandy is miles away. The sound is the main failure of G series. It's normal to get an unbalanced scene if you sit too close to it. The speakers only output some high frequencies. The subwoofer takes care of lows and mids. I have no idea who makes these speakers, but it looks like they know little about sound quality. They did manage to make Windows control the volume of the subwoofer. Now they have to control this subwoofer, but I guess it's not that simple and after quite a few sound drivers, some problems are still there. They have made the subwoofer on a separate circuit or something since the speakers never turn on with headphones on. Is this a problem on the G75 only or both G55 and G75?ĭon't say you don't have this issue until you actually tested it. (Driver problem? Defiantly yes!) Since it does not matter if you reinstall drivers or what you change in windows. I have reproduced ever one of these situations and it is intermittent. This happens even when you switch uses modes with the on the fly performance button next to power and it also happens when the screen is closed and reopened, when you sleep or hibernate the computer and when you screen saver initializes and wakes back up. Anytime a screen or battery saving function initializes the keyboard lights have a chance of going out. I know how to reproduce it but it does not always respond but it does happen enough that it is very aggravating. Intermittent keyboard lights they will not turn back on and the fn + up or down will not work for them to get them back. (Drive problem? Defiantly yes!) Since it does not matter what software you use. All new (headphones already plugged in) webpages and programs that produce audio will initially still allow sound to come from the software unless you mute or alter the volume by 1 level up or down. "At least this is my experience." ( From a technical aspect I can reproduce it enough to call it not intermittent). They are just not reproducing the same situation. I can produce it over and over on queue and is NOT intermittent like people say it is on the forums. This includes both normal heaphones and iPhone headphones with mic. The subwoofer is not linked to mute when headphones are plugged in. ![]() ![]() On older flashrom versions the syntax was: You have to invoke flashrom with the following parameters: All GND pins should be connected together ( pins 1 and 10 on the DLP-USB1232H, pin 8 on the SPI chip, pin 1 on the voltage regulator). The WP# and HOLD# pins should be tied to VCC! Then, you can run the program and use it to change the active partition to install the next OS (right click, advanced, make active). Once you have your first OS set up, install PM and update it. If Chkdsk didn't fix it for you, I'd download that update, install it, make a PM bootdisk that uses the newer files, then boot from that and erase and set up your partitions with the boot disk. Before I'd come across stuff not working and having to mess with OS files, I repartitioned the whole drive and started over clean. Although Chkdsk repaired the damage for me, I didn't trust the result. PM came up with that error on me once before I updated to 8.01. That fixed a bunch of bugs in the original 8.0.
